We are Priya & Aseem, amma and appa to Devi. We make Indian culture fun and inspiring for today’s kids.
Devi, Priya & Aseem
How it began
Long, long ago, Priya asked one question: can a child fall in love with a shloka book? Surely we could present our beloved shlokas better than on black and white pamphlets! And so, Priya created The Little Shloka Book.
As the series grew, Aseem built the player so kids could learn to chant the shlokas word by word. We have been packing books for kids all around the world for ten years, and now Devi does it with us.
Who does what
Amma · distils the wisdom
Priya
Priya dances Bharatanatyam, and was the creative lead of a performing arts institute. She has travelled across India, taking yoga and meditation to thousands of preschoolers, students and working professionals.
Appa · builds the websites
Aseem
Aseem makes web things, like this site and the shloka player. He has worked in companies big and small as an engineer and interface designer. He is an IIT dropout, and dreams of dropping into the English Channel one day.
Daughter · keeps us honest
Devi
Devi orders her amma and appa around till they bend to her whims, and throws in a smile or two every now and then. She packs your books with us while sipping kombucha.
